The Afternoon in Bordeaux

We had a day off from the Lacanau Pro surf contest, so we ventured an hour inland to spend the day in Bordeaux – known as a world-famous wine growing region. One of the largest cities in France, Bordeaux is actually a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site for its exceptional architecture and urban design from the 18th century.

Besides these fun facts via Wikipedia, I honestly didn't know much else about Bordeaux. We hitched a ride with our friends Vic and Kaleigh, simply followed signs to "centre-ville" (or downtown), and explored on foot for a few hours. We stumbled across enormous cathedrals, super cute plazas, the famous Garonne River, souvenir boutiques, and lots of cute dogs. And, of course, we had to stop for a couple glasses of wine!
